Impalers Revenge Review

The Impaler's Revenge (The Impaler Legacy)
The Impaler's Revenge

The Impaler’s Legacy
By: Ioana Visan

Product Description: In a world crawling with vampires, Romania is the safest place left on earth. Thanks to the Little Council, there hasn't been a vampire on Romanian ground in over five centuries. But one day, Liana Cantacuzino, also a member of the Little Council and a descendant of one of the old noble families, is ordered to bring one in, covertly. Enter Maximilien Hess, a thousand years old vampire determined to ruin the existing order of things.

Suddenly, Liana finds herself forced to protect Hess, instead of having the pandurs kill him. With the help from her trustful friends, Rodica Ghica and Ştefan Sturdza, and that of an innocent bystander, Dr. Jesse Carver, Liana has to find out what is going on and what the President is hiding from her. When all is revealed, Hess's secret changes everything.

The first novella in The Impaler Legacy series, a vampire saga like no other.

My Review: I read this e-book on my computer using kindle. The book was very intriguing and in the end it left me wanting to read the next books, Sweet Surrender (The Impaler Legacy #1.5) and Victory that Counts (The Impaler Legacy #2)! I enjoyed reading this book even though at first I didn't enjoy it very much, the more of it I read the more I liked it. I was excited to start reading this book because I love vampires. I have seen movies and shows with vampires but I have never read a vampire book before this. This book makes you want to be constantly reading because of how there is always a secret that you want to find out. If I had more time during the day to read this book I would have been able to finish it sooner because it isn't a lengthy book.  If you are wanting to read this book and you are a faster reader and you like vampire stories then I would suggest maybe getting the whole series but if you take longer to read or don’t have very much time during the day you may want to start with only the first book! It's Christmas Bakers Edition KitchenAid Mixer Giveaway

It’s Christmas Baker's Edition Giveaway Event

With Christmas coming closer I think it's time to get ready to do some baking.  I enjoy baking with my mom and always love getting new recipes.  My Gramma was always a good baker and I think she passed that on to my mom and then it got to me.  Thankfully.  We will be baking a lot of cookies this year, I got to bake some with my friend one day that she was over.  We made some Peanut Butter cookies.  Three different kinds because there were three of us.  My little sister, my friend and myself.  We made three different versions of the same recipe.  My sister wanted to take hers to school with her so she made "wow butter" cookies (it's like peanut butter but without the peanuts).  I made smooth and my friend made crunchy (that's the kind with peanut bits in it).  We really enjoyed making them.  We added White Chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips and butterscotch chips to the cookies, so none of them were the same in any form.  It was great fun.
I think with many peanut allergies nowadays having the wow butter cookies was a great alternative.  Although they were rather dry (wow butter is like that) so they crumbled a little bit.  I think having an alternative is great because you never know when you'll run into an allergy sufferer.  Below you'll find some recipes that I'm sure you'll enjoy, maybe bake and share some this year, Christmas is about giving after all!!  Have a great day everyone.  Good luck.

The Rat and the Ransom

The Rat and the Ransom
Y.I. Lee
About:Tom has wanted a pet for a long while and when he found a rat in his backyard he takes and adventure full of twists and turns. You will never want to put the book down!

My Review: I enjoyed this book, mostly because of how everything was so unexpected. I found the book to be a little confusing near the end but other than that I have no ad things to say about this book. It didn't take me very long to read this book, because the chapters were not very long. I found the book to, also, have some suspense to it. The book was well detailed and explained characters well.

The Silver Strand

The Silver Strand
L.J. Clarkson

Ever since twelve year old Isabelle Tresdon’s silver strand of hair sprouted, it’s been nothing but trouble: bleeding pink dust and sparking like a firecracker.  Refusing to be known as the girl with the freaky, grandma hair, she wishes it never grew and the hair withers and tarnishes.
The only problem is, the strand is Isabelle's source of magic, and she can transform particles of energy into matter. It's also her ticket into Mastermind Academy, a secret school inside the earth’s core. Five days remain before the strand drains her magic and life, forcing Isabelle to enter into a deal with two trickster Masterminds to save it. But what she doesn't count on, is there is more at stake than just her life.

My Review: During the beginning of The Silver Strand I was confused. I think the culprit of my confusion is that the writer of the book, L.J. Clarkson, didn't put much detail into what was going on.  They were just lightly skimming over the details so it was complicated to understand where Isabelle was and also, even though this is a fictional book about magic, if I saw some metal and pink dust popping out of someone’s temple, I would freak out more than they children in the book did when Isabelle’s strand grew. After reading most of the book I had an easier time understanding what was going on in the book. In the end I thought the book was OK, except for the parts at the beginning when things are unclear. If you enjoy reading books about magic and mystical creatures, I think this book would be a good one for you!

Giveaway: Chicken Soup for the Soul It's Christmas

Joyce Laird had left her Christmas turkey to brine in the sink as usual. But when she went to rotate it, she was horrified to find her supposedly dead turkey hopping around on the kitchen floor! Her children started screaming, and her husband rushed in to bravely conquer the zombie turkey. The mystery was solved when their cat poked his little head out of the turkey’s body. Joyce’s family started a new tradition that year with an emergency Christmas rib roast. Their story is a great way to put Christmas mishaps in perspective, and is just one of the many funny and heartwarming holiday memories recounted in Chicken Soup for the Soul: It’s Christmas!  From dancing turkeys and other holiday hijinks to cherished memories and traditions, this collection of 101 stories about the love, fun, and wonder of the holidays is a great way to jumpstart your own Christmas spirit.

Christmas can be quite suspenseful too. Monika LaPlante shares a startling story in the book about how she was awakened on Christmas Eve by her sister’s terrified pleas to an intruder in her room. Monika then realized there was a man standing in the dark in her room, too. The brave teen reached for her glasses and turned on the light, ready to defend herself, only to discover that she and her sister were the recipients of the elves’ best work, which had been intended for Christmas morning. Standing at the foot of their beds were life-size cardboard cutouts of teen heartthrobs Edward Cullen and Justin Bieber.

You may be one of those people who take Christmas very seriously, with long to-do lists, a lot of stress, and an attic full of decorations. These stories will remind you to have fun while you’re at it. Dawn Byrne’s husband competed with his sister every year to see who had the best decorated yard, so one year, right after Christmas, Dawn suggested they steal his sister’s Baby Jesus from her outdoor nativity scene. Dawn and her husband spent the next year taking pictures of the kidnapped baby in various locations and sending them to his sister. She played along and even taped a picture of her missing Baby Jesus to a milk carton.

Whether these stories make you laugh out loud or bring a tear to your eye, you’ll want to share them with friends and relatives. This is a gift that will keep on giving, keeping the spirit of Christmas alive all year.
